Michael took it upon himself to look up which area stores carried the hearing aid battery. He ordered one for the patient and had it DoorDash'd to the hospital that night, with money out of his own pocket, so that the patient felt confident leaving the next day, being able to hear properly.
Michael was caring for an older patient on the overnight shift. Upon assessment, Michael noted the patient was somewhat tearful and asked her if she was ok. She stated she was, but her hearing aid batteries had died, and she was being discharged to a facility the following day, and was concerned about not being able to hear properly.
Upon hearing this, Michael removed the battery from the hearing aid to note which type of battery it was. Seeing that we do not have those batteries in stock at the hospital,Michael took it upon himself to look up which area stores carried the hearing aid battery. He ordered one for the patient and had it DoorDash'd to the hospital that night, with money out of his own pocket, so that the patient felt confident leaving the next day, being able to hear properly.
This above-and-beyond act of kindness by Michael exhibits the actions he takes to fully care for his patients on a nightly basis. While he saw it as "no big deal", his co-workers and the patient found it extraordinary! This is a small example of the fantastic care Michael provides to his patients on a routine basis, he truly thinks of the person as a whole, and treats every patient he comes into contact with as they were his own.
