My husband has a terminal cancer diagnosis and is currently receiving palliative chemotherapy. He had an enormous (and scary) spike in his temp after the last chemo round and was admitted to the second floor after spending nearly 8 hours in the ER to be treated for pneumonia. We were both exhausted and down, and frankly, he is not the sweetest of people when he is in the hospital.... makes him very grouchy! The two nurses that I met took care of him and were wonderful!!! They were obviously very competent and careful to explain things clearly and completely - very important to me as a retired RN myself. But more than just competent.

Michael especially exuded warmth and kindness and he had a very good sense of humor – and managed to make my grouchy guy laugh more than a few times, and trust me, that was no small accomplishment. Michael made a huge difference to us during what has been a very difficult and challenging time. I was a nurse for 37 years at Marshall myself, and I can honestly say that I gave my whole self to my work there - I was delighted to see that there are still nurses at Marshall who do the same - THANK YOU, Michael!!
