Throughout the entire event, Mike's composure, clinical expertise, and genuine care for others shone through as hallmarks of his commitment to putting patients and people first.
Mike exemplifies kindness, professionalism, and an unwavering patient-first mentality both inside and outside the hospital. In the community, he serves as a volunteer baseball and football coach, inspiring young athletes with his leadership and dedication. With nearly twenty years of critical care experience, Mike is regarded as a trusted leader in the ICU, where he serves as a relief Charge RN and a pillar of the team.
Recently, while attending his son's football game, Mike's expertise and character were called upon in a critical moment. When the head coach suddenly collapsed, a fellow parent quickly sought Mike's help, knowing his clinical skill and calm under pressure. Mike ran to the field, assessed for a pulse, and immediately initiated high-quality BLS. Directing the second responder to retrieve the AED, Mike led the emergency response until EMS arrived.
Even after the coach was in EMS care, Mike remained by his side until he was transported to the hospital. Demonstrating his compassion, he personally called the coach's son to explain the situation and reassure him during a stressful time. Throughout the entire event, Mike's composure, clinical expertise, and genuine care for others shone through as hallmarks of his commitment to putting patients and people first.
This is Mike's 2nd DAISY Award!
