Michael Cipriani is a Nurse Practitioner for Home-Based Primary Care. He provides the highest quality of care to our veterans who are unable to travel to the clinic and demonstrates exemplary traits as a health care provider, leader, and colleague. There have been cases when patients develop situations where symptoms would usually be controlled and managed in an inpatient environment, but Michael Cipriani has made management of disease processes achievable with the patient remaining in the comfort of their home. He demonstrates his leadership and knowledge through his actions.
A family was on the way to a doctor's appointment when the family's mother became unresponsive, and the family stopped at the nearest clinic, which was the Wilson and Young CBOC, and requested immediate assistance. As staff went to assist the patient, Michael Cipriani did not hesitate to step in and provide resuscitative measures until EMS arrived and the patient required intubation, compressions, rescue breathing, and rescue medications, after which the patient had a Return of Spontaneous Circulation at the Emergency Department, and was admitted to the ICU. Another occasion happened when the CBOC was alerted that a patient was having a seizure, less responsive, bradycardic, and hypotensive with drooling and unilateral weakness, and staff immediately went to assist. Michael Cipriani did not hesitate to step in and assist to provide a quick and rapid assessment. On top of being dependable and reliable, he displays confidence and compassion.
