Unbeknownst to us, Mike asked his manager if he could adjust his schedule to stay with us on that day, and this request was granted.
Mike took care of my dad. My dad was transferred to Trinity from McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey, so we were all far from home.
When my sisters and I arrived, Mike introduced himself and asked us about our relation to his patient. He immediately made us feel at ease and welcome, writing our names on the board as part of the care team. Mike checked on us often, answering our questions and explaining things in a language we could understand.
He listened to a few stories about our dad, and we shared laughs over the Red Robin jingle. One day, Mike was scheduled in a different department, but our family decided to put our dad on comfort measures that day. Unbeknownst to us, Mike asked his manager if he could adjust his schedule to stay with us on that day, and this request was granted.
I can't express the gratitude we have for Mike and his manager for making this happen.
Mike, you made a tremendously difficult time easier for us, the patients' daughters. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Dad would've loved you.

My husband was transferred from McLaren Petoskey early Saturday morning. He was in critical condition. He was put on comfort care. His family was with him the whole time. Mike showed compassion, care, and knowledge to my husband. He was gentle and kind when he talked to him.
Mike also treated the patient’s family and me with the same compassion and made our nightmare a little easier. Mike is a wonderful nurse! We loved him and are so grateful for him.
