A Postbaccalaureate Nurse Resident nominated Meredith. Her nomination is as follows: “I am a PBNR nurse resident, and Meredith was my first preceptor in my home unit, CLC Valor. As a new nurse, I have always heard the stories of “nurses eating their young.” I had never been a hospital CNA, meaning working in the hospital was a new experience for me. Coming into work for the first time made the butterflies flutter like crazy in my stomach. Throughout my first two months on the unit, Meredith did the impossible and made me happy to come to work. I no longer felt extreme anxiety walking in the door. She patiently and kindly taught me how to be a nurse. She never made me feel unwanted or in the way. When I messed up, she never made me feel guilty. Not only was she my preceptor, but she also became my friend. She made me feel safe in the unit. Even as I go through my other PBNR rotations, I look forward to going back to CLC Valor because of the amazing environment created by nurses dedicated to treating new nurses with respect and kindness.”
