Through their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment, they ensure that no Veteran is left behind.
Rupi Mangat and Nao Vang have consistently demonstrated the VA's I CARE values in the following ways:
Integrity: Both Rupi and Nao maintain the trust and confidence of not only their patients but also their colleagues, ensuring that every action they take is in the best interest of Veterans.
Commitment: They have shown unwavering dedication to the VA's mission by managing a regular panel of over 60 high-acuity patients and also taking on additional responsibilities, such as covering for the SUDP clinic injection patients, without hesitation.
Advocacy: They truly focus on the well-being of Veterans, coordinating with various providers and teams, including inpatient units, Primary Care, and MH BHIP teams, to ensure comprehensive care.
Respect: Despite losing their office space and having to share with five other nurses, they have managed to create private environments for their patients, addressing a wide range of needs with dignity and respect.
Excellence: Their continuous, grace-filled handling of their extensive and stressful workload without complaints, all while ensuring that no Veteran slips through the cracks, exemplifies their pursuit of excellence.
Rupi Mangat and Nao Vang have been the backbone of the MH Long-Acting Injectables clinic. Since 2022, they have managed to see walk-ins all day, every day, and carry out injections since 2024. They have stepped up to cover the SUDP clinic’s injection patients when needed, showing incredible flexibility and dedication.
Despite managing a panel of over 60 regular monthly patients with complex and high acuity needs, they consistently handle their responsibilities with grace. Their ability to coordinate with various providers and teams, such as inpatient units, Primary Care, and MH BHIP teams, to ensure holistic care for Veterans is commendable.
Even under the stressful conditions of losing their office and having to share space with multiple nurses, they’ve found ways to provide private, compassionate care to their patients, addressing issues ranging from anxiety to suicidal ideation, and more.
Their work extends beyond the main clinic, as they also cover the injection patients at the Visalia CBOC. Through their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment, they ensure that no Veteran is left behind.
They have never complained about the extra workload and continue to serve with the utmost respect and excellence. Their dedication profoundly impacts both the Veterans they serve and the teams they collaborate with, embodying the spirit of the DAISY Award.
