Well, first, I want to say that every single nurse who took care of me during my 11-day stay was an angel. I want to say that when I hear the word angel, what immediately comes to mind is one of selfishness, kindness, and extraordinary hard work without complaint or thought for their own comfort. I found that to be true of every nurse I’ve had the pleasure to be cared for, but sometimes you come across one that makes you feel special. I came to Medical City Lewisville 11 days ago after having a bad car accident, I broke my hip and had my chest crushed by the impact of the crash. I was in pain most of the time. Melva always did what she could to make me comfortable. She tended to me like I was her family. She offered words of encouragement and helped me embrace what happened to me, and though it would be hard, she made me feel like I could do it. She never made me feel like I was bothering her, and I know there were many times I called her for help, and I even felt like I was a burden. She made what I know was a difficult time caring for me like it was easy for her. She took the time to get to know me and shared some of her life with me. She cleaned up after me and made my surroundings clean and fresh. She made her care for me look so easy when I know how hard it really is. She was truly my special angel and I fell in love with her as a nurse and a person. Thank you for everything, Melva!
