Had Melody not caught this, God only knows how much damage would have been caused before he had symptoms or worse - Coded.
It's taken me a little bit to write this due to everything with my family going on. My father-in-law had a AAA repair. On Friday, 2 days later, while at St. E Fort Thomas with our daughter for surgery, we got a call from my mother-in-law saying the nurse (Melody) was concerned about what my father-in-law's heart rate would do anytime he would change positions, move, or get up. About an hour later we got a call from my mother-in-law with Melody on speaker phone stating that she performed a 12-lead and it said ACUTE MI. She then proceeded to tell us that his troponins were over 2,000 and he was going to the cath lab. My husband and I are both medical so we knew exactly what this meant. My mother-in-law who has zero medical knowledge and has been a ball of anxiety since the surgery, didn't quite get the severity of this (thankfully) due to the calm demeanor of Melody.

During this episode, G (my father-in-law) had no symptoms of a heart attack. He didn't feel bad, he had no chest pain. He had some SOB but he thought it was expected 2 days post surgery. Had Melody not caught this, God only knows how much damage would have been caused before he had symptoms or worse - Coded. Melody not only saved his life with her close observations and knowledge (experience), but quite possibly saved the quality of life that he will be left with post-MI. I truly believe if she would not have caught this he would not be here today. While all this was going on she was also able to keep my mother-in-law calm, reassured, and us updated. I wanted you to know how amazing of a nurse you have with Melody and how she has changed my family's life forever.
