I wanted to take a moment to share a story and praise a special nurse you have at UNC Nash. Her name is Melissa Willoughby, she was on the 5th floor, and how she made such an impact on our family. My Mom has been back and forth to UNC Nash for the last year.

This last trip, her liver and kidneys had progressively gotten worse. When we were assigned to the room on 5th floor a sweet nurse came in and it was Melissa, and she and my Mama had an instant connection, she helped ease her worries and gave her such great comfort and care during the worst time of her life, and she knew the end was near.

Melissa went above what she was paid to do as a nurse. My Mama ended up with UNC Hospice Care and of the last things she said was she loved Melissa and called for her many times, she did tell Melissa before we left UNC that she loved her and what a special person she was and is. My Mama passed to a better place.

I know that most of the time, people take time to complain, but I wanted to take this time to send a thank you. Our family is forever grateful for Melissa Willoughby. We know she will do great things in her nursing career.
