I was in the ICU recovering from quadruple bypass surgery. Melissa was my nurse for 5 of those days. All of my nurses were excellent, but Melissa was outstanding. Her experience showed. She kept me informed, told me what to expect, and made suggestions on how to handle my recovery. She pushed me to sit up and walk when I was ready. Most of all, she was always caring and encouraging, which was especially appreciated after issues with my heart rate kept me in the ICU longer than expected. She was quick to compliment me and joked with me to keep my spirits up. I felt she was on my side for the entire journey. My wife was equally impressed with her.
