Melissa Priester, BSN, RN

I would like to recognize Melissa for the incredible care, professionalism, and compassion she showed during my stay in the Cardiac Unit.

She was very busy during the night, but she never seemed frustrated, overwhelmed, or dismissive. No matter how much happened around her, she remained calm, organized, respectful, and fully attentive to her patients.

Melissa treated me, my family, and even my hospital roommate with tremendous patience, dignity, and kindness. It was clear she genuinely cared about every patient under her care (not just medically but emotionally, too). She makes people feel acknowledged, respected, and safe during stressful times.

Night shifts are especially challenging, yet Melissa handled it all with remarkable composure and professionalism.

She keeps the unit running smoothly and makes sure we all receive the care and attention we deserve.

Even if she doesn’t officially “supervise”, she naturally takes ownership of the environment and ensures that things are organized and under control. She truly runs a very tight ship while maintaining warmth and humor.

What stood out to me was her ability to stay kind and emotionally present despite carrying such a heavy workload.

I was super impressed with her balancing efficiency with humanity in a way that is very rare.

She is really reassuring, but not dishonest.

Seeing how much she carries made me worry for her, because Melissa is only one person.

It is clear that because she is so capable and dependable, many people rely heavily on her.

Nurses like Melissa are invaluable, and I truly hope she receives recognition and support for the exceptional work she does every day.
