Dr. Salus is a kind, compassionate, empathetic, and above all, smart faculty member. In our OB clinical, Dr. Salus made me feel comfortable and confident with the skills that I was performing by pre- and post-skill briefing with me to ensure my understanding. She treats patients with respect and always makes them smile with a joke or a kind conversation. She taught me the true value of therapeutic use of self, especially while working with such a vulnerable population.

Outside of clinical, Dr. Salus personally worked with me to talk through a challenging OB patient experience I had while working as an EMT, and was able to strengthen my understanding of the pathophysiology, care, and monitoring for this case. Dr. Salus formed a bond with our clinical group, and by the end of clinical, I didn't want to leave. She is easy to talk to and work with, and her passion for nursing goes without saying. I strongly feel that Dr. Salus is a strong candidate for the DAISY Award.
