Being a first-time mom, going into childbirth was frightening enough with all the upcoming unknowns along with all the exciting feelings that being a first-time mom comes with. Having a healthy pregnancy all the way to over 40 weeks and being so excited to think of bringing home my little boy taking a turn to days in the NICU would not have been possible without Miss Melina. Although our baby boy was overall in very good condition comparatively speaking to the other sweet souls in the NICU, Melina gave him 150% from 7 am- 7 pm every day she was able to be his nurse. We feel very blessed to have had her care for 3 of the days so far (as we are still here at the time of writing this letter). From the loving care she showed our baby J and making me, as a mama feel so comforted and at peace on our baby’s state of health, she has no idea how much the little extra steps mean to a brand-new set of parents. Being able to walk out the NICU doors each and every time at peace, knowing she loved our baby the same, was the best thing I could have ever asked for during this experience. Extra special moments like coming in to find our little one with a hat she made into a baseball cap, her taking a photo of our first bottle feed together and printing extra copies for us to have, always calling and letting us know what and when things were happening, and even taking the time to come and visit us in the upstairs NICU just to see our boy, means the absolute world to us.

Although every single individual we have worked with during this stay has been great, Miss Melina will truly forever hold a special place in our family’s heart for the comfort and loving compassion she brought to our baby boy’s first days in this crazy world. Melina, you have a heart of pure gold, and you are a true blessing to all of the little souls behind those NICU doors.
