I would like to nominate Meleia for a DAISY Award for her extraordinary kindness and dedication to our patients. Recently, one of our patients on Bennett Rehab was celebrating his 46th wedding anniversary. Despite being hospitalized, Meleia went above and beyond to make this milestone a truly special and memorable day for him and his wife. She took the initiative to purchase decorations and made sure his room was filled with signs, streamers, balloons, flowers, and a cake when his wife arrived.

Witnessing their joyful tears and heartfelt gratitude was a powerful reminder of the profound impact that compassionate care can have. Being in the hospital on such an important day can be incredibly difficult, but Meleia’s thoughtful actions brought immense comfort and happiness to this couple during a challenging time. What may have seemed like a simple gesture to her made a lasting difference in their experience. Meleia exemplifies the compassion and spirit of nursing that the DAISY Award honors, and I am proud to nominate her for this recognition.
