My son is 16 months old and has a complex medical history, including TEF repair and multiple esophageal dilations. He needed a CT scan of his abdomen. The original plan was to intubate him so he could be fully sedated for the procedure.

Nurse Megan took the time to thoughtfully assess the situation and advocated for a less invasive option. She suggested trying nasal Versed instead and personally communicating with the anesthesia team and CT technologists to adjust the plan. Because of her initiative and collaboration, they were able to move forward without intubation.

She also placed his IV quickly on the first attempt after the nasal Versed, which made a stressful situation much easier. She went above and beyond by allowing me to come over to the CT scanner to help keep Matthew calm, which made a huge difference for both of us.

Because of Megan’s advocacy, compassion, and excellent communication throughout the process, my son was able to complete his scan safely while avoiding a much more invasive intervention.

I am incredibly grateful for the care she provided and for how she treated both my son and our family during a very stressful experience. She truly exemplifies the kind of nurse every family hopes to have caring for their child.

Thank you, Meghan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
