Meghan jumped right in, with a smile and a genuineness that is too often lacking today.
Meghan exemplifies dedication, kindness, and true caring in a nurse. My husband was having his last infusion treatment today. His treatment was scheduled for 1:30 pm. However, due to a scheduling snafu, he had his Oncology Dr visit scheduled for 9:45. After the Dr visit we would have had to go all the way back home and then drive all the way back. But Meghan made it possible for B to come up to the infusion center directly. Meghan wasn't his actual nurse for the day. K was going to be, but she was busy with another patient. Meghan jumped right in, with a smile and a genuineness that is too often lacking today. She made us feel like family. Because Meghan started B and readied him with his IV in place and pre medicated him etc, he was all set and ready for K to take over as his nurse for the remainder of the day. But if not for Meghan, jumping in to help out we would have been stuck in the waiting room for over an hour. There's simply no way to express in words Meghan being a true team player- something we all should aspire to be at work, and at home.
As a nurse, myself, I can most assuredly say that Meghan has the calling. She truly is a nurse's nurse. I can think of no one more deserving of recognition, and I have been truly impressed by all of the nurses I've encountered throughout my husband's Cancer treatments. Still, Meghan jumping in like that, doing some of Kathy's work, making it possible for Bill not to have to go all the way home, come all the way back or wait a long time in the waiting room- was going above and beyond. I am SO appreciative and grateful that we were blessed to cross paths with Meghan today.
