Thank you, Meghan, for being the kind of nurse every patient hopes for, and every nurse is grateful to work beside.
I am honored to nominate Meghan, RN, for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional teamwork, professionalism, and devotion to patient-centered care. Her actions recently exemplified the very heart of nursing.
During a particularly busy shift, the Occupational Therapy team was working with a patient who required immediate nursing support. Although this patient was not assigned to her, Meghan stepped in without hesitation. She assessed the situation with calm confidence, offered the therapeutic team the support they needed, and ensured the patient received safe, continuous care. Her presence not only stabilized the moment but allowed the patient to maintain momentum in their therapy session—something deeply important to that patient’s recovery.
Meghan demonstrated what true nursing leadership looks like:
• Anticipating needs before being asked
• Prioritizing patient safety above all else
• Supporting colleagues to maintain smooth, coordinated care
• Showing compassion through action, not just words
In a time when nursing is more demanding than ever, Meghan shines as an example of what it means to be a supportive teammate and a patient advocate. Her willingness to step outside of assignments and think beyond task lists reflects the very essence of the DAISY Award—extraordinary, meaningful care that makes a real difference.
We need more nurses like Meghan—nurses who uplift their teams, protect their patients, and embody the core values of our profession. Her dedication and heart do not go unnoticed, and our unit is better because of her.
