Megan’s compassion made her feel less like our nurse and more like a trusted friend walking alongside us through our grief.
I would like to nominate Megan, an Emergency Department nurse, for a DAISY Award for the exceptional compassion and support she provided during one of the most difficult moments of my life. I was diagnosed with a pregnancy failure, and my husband and I lost our baby. During an experience filled with shock, grief, and uncertainty, Megan became a steady source of comfort and reassurance.
I work as an MRI technologist at NYU, and my husband is also an RN at NYU. Coming from healthcare ourselves, we are deeply aware of the demands and pressures of a busy Emergency Department. Despite this, Megan never made us feel rushed or overlooked. She went above and beyond to ensure I was as comfortable as possible, explaining each step with patience and kindness, and checking in frequently both physically and emotionally.
What stood out most was how genuinely cared for we felt. Megan’s compassion made her feel less like our nurse and more like a trusted friend walking alongside us through our grief. Her empathy, professionalism, and humanity made an unforgettable difference during an incredibly painful experience, and she truly represents the very best of nursing.
