I would like to recognize Megan for the compassion, patience, and dedication she demonstrates not only every day, but especially during a situation that could have been incredibly traumatic for one of my loved ones.

My loved one had experienced an accident, causing her hair to catch on fire. She was embarrassed and worried that the burned would have to be cut off (completely understandable panic as a female). Instead of dismissing the panic or making her feel like the only option was to cut it, Megan went above and beyond to protect her dignity and comfort. Megan took the time to carefully brush through her severely tangled and damaged hair.

Megan never once made her feel ashamed or like a bother, even though it was uncomfortable and difficult. Megan made sure she felt safe, cared for, and secure while doing so. Because of Megan’s love and patience, the unimaginable was avoided. Megan even helped her with some cute braids to avoid further tangling during her stay at Eskenazi.

Megan’s actions prove what nursing is: compassionate care that addresses not just the patient’s physical needs, but also their emotional well-being. Her kindness made a meaningful difference that will not be forgotten.
