What truly set Megan apart was her proactive approach to care.
I nominated Megan in recognition of the exceptional and compassionate care she provided during my recent hospitalization at St. Francis P&S Surgical Hospital. From the moment she entered my room, she brought a sense of calm and reassurance that immediately eased my anxiety.
I was frightened, overwhelmed, in pain from surgery, and had already been away from my dogs for a day and a half, which didn’t help. But Megan consistently made me feel safe, heard, and genuinely cared for. And I really want to emphasize safety...because as someone who struggles with anxiety, I was feeling very out of control.
She took the time to clearly and thoughtfully explain my healing and wound care process, helping me understand what was happening and what to expect. That gave me back a sense of empowerment and control, and it made a meaningful difference in how I was able to cope during a very difficult time.
What truly set Megan apart was her proactive approach to care. She anticipated my needs rather than reacting after problems arose. She stayed ahead of my pain management and communication with physicians, making my care feel seamless and ensuring I never felt uncertain or overlooked.
She also showed compassion in the small, thoughtful ways patients never forget, like always making sure I had my favorite Dr. Pepper Zero on hand. It’s such a simple thing, but it brought comfort and familiarity in a really stressful moment. She talked with me when I needed a distraction and comforted me when my anxiety crept back in. Those moments reminded me that I was seen as a person, not just a patient.
Because of Megan, my hospital experience was far less frightening and far more compassionate than I ever expected. She truly embodies everything the DAISY Award represents: clinical excellence, empathy, advocacy, and genuine human connection.
I will always remember the care she gave me and the difference she made in my healing journey. And I truly believe every patient deserves the kind of care Megan provides.

Megan is the epitome of what the DAISY Award stands for. She is kind, compassionate, and understanding. She anticipated my daughter's needs, even before we asked for something. She told great stories to distract her and help ease her anxiety. She held her hand during painful wound care treatments and made sure she knew what to expect before, during, and after. As a mother, Megan was a Godsend. She made me feel like my daughter was going to be cared for properly when I had to be at work. I know her kind, spirited heart is felt by every patient she cares for!
