September 2026 Honoree
Megan Faris, MBA, BSN
I am honored to nominate Megan Faris for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. She exemplifies compassionate, courageous, and transformational leadership in nursing. Megan consistently goes above and beyond to advocate for her staff. She does not just manage a unit; she leads with heart. She makes it clear, through both words and action, that our well-being matters. Whether we are navigating staffing challenges, complex patient situations, or personal life stressors, she listens without judgment and responds with thoughtful support.
What sets her apart is her ability to balance operational excellence with genuine humanity. She ensures patient safety and quality outcomes while also protecting her team from burnout. She advocates fiercely for appropriate staffing, resources, and process improvements. She encourages evidence-based practice and supports nurses who want to grow professionally, whether that’s pursuing certification, joining committees, advancing on the clinical ladder, or returning to school. She sees potential in her nurses and actively helps them develop it.
In difficult moments, she remains calm, steady, and solution-focused. She fosters psychological safety on our unit; we feel safe speaking up, asking questions, and bringing forward ideas for improvement. That culture does not happen by accident; it reflects intentional, values-driven leadership. Perhaps most importantly, she leads with compassion. She checks in on us as people, not just employees. She celebrates our wins, supports us through losses, and models the kind of leadership that reminds us why we chose nursing in the first place. Because of Megan, our unit is stronger, more connected, and more resilient. She is the kind of leader who makes nurses want to stay and thrive. She deserves the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
