I would like to nominate the Medication Assistance Treatment Team, "MATT" at Redlands Community Hospital. This team was led by Tom Siminski, RN, our Nursing Director of Emergency Services. The team took on one of the most pressing health crises of our time, opioid addiction, with urgency, innovation, and compassion.
In less than a year, MATT turned an idea into a life-saving reality. From securing grant funding, to installing naloxone kiosks, to distributing over 900 naloxone kits and 300 fentanyl test strips β their impact has rippled far beyond our hospital walls and into the very heart of our community.
This work would not have been possible without the collaborative spirit and commitment of each team member: Debbie Evans, Evan Houck, MD, Justin Miles, Tiffany Stock, and Kaitlyn βKatβ Mazzei. Together, they have not only met a critical need β they have broken stigma, opened access, and offered hope to so many.
