Her allowance of me to be so involved in my grandma’s care was the greatest gift I have ever received.
McKenna was my grandma’s nurse the day we switched to comfort care and the day she passed. She was so sweet to my grandma and spoke to her so kindly throughout the process, and was very conversational with our family during a very hard time. She listened to each concern or suggestion and always had something valuable to offer in return. What strikes me the most, and what I am personally most grateful for, is that McKenna allowed me to care for my grandma post-mortem with her. My grandma was a nurse, and as a nurse myself, it was a very healing experience.

As we were completing her cares, I apologized to McKenna for being so gentle in removing her IVs and explaining everything I was doing. McKenna not only said it was perfectly fine for me to do, but also began doing the exact same thing. We both explained and spoke to my grandma as we cleaned her up, and that felt like the perfect way to honor her and preserve her dignity. McKenna was so special and such an outstanding nurse. Her allowance of me to be so involved in my grandma’s care was the greatest gift I have ever received.
