As my sister is still recovering and a little groggy, she asked me to complete this nomination on her behalf. As a first-time mom with severe anxiety, she was extremely nervous about the delivery process, postpartum recovery, and learning how to care for her newborn. Having Mckenna Lee as her nurse made all the difference.

From the moment Mckenna entered the room, she was warm, bubbly, friendly, and incredibly attentive. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly and never made my sister feel rushed or like her questions were a burden. She patiently re-explained things multiple times when my sister needed reassurance and always made sure she understood every detail.

What stood out most was Mckenna's compassion and willingness to go above and beyond. She came into the room numerous times to help with things my sister needed, often without being asked. At one point, she spent an extra hour helping feed and burp the baby so my sister could get a little more rest. That act of kindness meant more than words can express during such an overwhelming and emotional time. Mckenna recognized my sister’s anxiety and met her with patience, understanding, and encouragement. She constantly reassured her, reminding her that she was doing an amazing job and that both mother and baby are learning together. She helped my sister understand that the challenges she was experiencing were normal and that she was not failing in any way. Those conversations significantly increased my sister’s confidence and comfort as a new mother.

I personally witnessed Mckenna’s exceptional care and professionalism throughout the entire experience. She was not only knowledgeable and informative, but also genuinely kind, positive, and compassionate. She has a natural ability to connect with patients and make them feel safe, supported, and valued. While all of the nurses provided care, Mckenna truly stood out. She was the nurse every first-time mother hopes to have during such a vulnerable and life-changing experience. Her dedication, patience, and compassion went far beyond what was expected, and it is clear that nursing is exactly what she was meant to do.

Mckenna made a lasting impact on my sister and our entire family. We will never forget the confidence, comfort, and support she provided during one of the most important moments of our lives. She is an extraordinary nurse and incredibly deserving of a DAISY Award nomination.

Thank you, Mckenna, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
