Through transparency, accountability, and a visible presence, she led change rather than directing it from a distance, establishing a new standard for leadership across the organization.
I am honored to nominate Maya Perez, RN, LCSW, LNHA, President of BayCare Alliant Hospital, for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
When Maya accepted the role of President, she took a courageous chance on our hospital at a time when our culture needed meaningful change. From the very beginning, she demonstrated exceptional nursing leadership by recognizing both the challenges we faced and the potential within our organization. She approached transformation with intention, humility, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Maya is both a visionary leader and someone who remains grounded in the details. She thoughtfully built a strong, homegrown BayCare leadership team and consistently modeled the leadership behaviors she expected from others. Through transparency, accountability, and a visible presence, she led change rather than directing it from a distance, establishing a new standard for leadership across the organization.
As a mentor, Maya invests deeply in the growth and development of those around her. She does not shy away from difficult conversations or complex challenges, but instead approaches them with clarity, compassion, and a solutions-oriented mindset. Her leadership fosters trust, engagement, and accountability, creating an environment where team members feel supported, empowered, and inspired to do their best work.
At the center of every decision Maya makes is an unwavering commitment to the patient. She consistently reinforces that patient-centered care is the foundation of everything we do, ensuring that operational decisions, cultural transformation, and strategic growth never lose sight of their impact on those we serve.
Through her vision, mentorship, and hands-on leadership, Maya has transformed our hospital’s culture and strengthened our collective sense of purpose. She exemplifies the values and spirit of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award, and I cannot think of a more deserving recipient.
Thank you for your consideration.
