She truly exemplifies what it means to put patients first. I am so grateful for her kindness and exceptional care.
I witnessed this exceptional care firsthand as I was present throughout my son’s pre-op experience. I observed Nurse Mo’s patience, compassion, and proactive support when he became overstimulated. Her calm presence and individualized approach made a direct and meaningful difference for both my son and me.

As an Inova team member, I see our Patient First commitment every day, but recently I experienced it personally when my son was in the Endoscopy pre-op unit for a dental procedure at Fair Oaks Hospital. My son has level 3 autism and high support needs, and medical settings can be very overwhelming for him. Nurse Maureen, “Mo,” went above and beyond to support both of us.

When he became overstimulated, she calmly walked with him, comforted him, and helped him regulate. Her patience and compassion made an incredibly stressful situation manageable. Mo also reassured me throughout the process, recognizing that caring for the family is part of caring for the patient. She truly exemplifies what it means to put patients first. I am so grateful for her kindness and exceptional care.

My father was recovering from his reversal surgery for colon cancer. Between his first surgery and this one, my mother suffered a fatal stroke, so the weight of finishing this cancer journey without her was an extra-heavy burden. My sister and I flew in from Colorado and Florida to be with him during this time.

Maureen, “Mo,” was my dad’s nurse. Her sense of humor and kind spirit immediately set our minds at ease and were so reassuring. She has a way of making people laugh. My father said she could start her own comedy club. We cannot say enough how much we appreciated her warmth and humor during such a stressful time.

I was a patient at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in the OR for an outpatient breast reduction. Mo took care of me during pre-op. She was very helpful and kind while caring for me, and helped me feel a little less anxious about the whole process.

I really appreciate her walking me through the process, timeline, and what to expect during the pre-op period and beyond. She is an excellent, compassionate, and thoughtful nurse, and I am very grateful to have had her.
