Maureen McGrath leads our department as a model of compassionate and exemplary practice. Whenever there is an issue or patient concern, she is hands-on and seeks immediate solutions. She is at the bedside of patients, ensuring satisfaction and listening to concerns, creating an environment that fosters extraordinary care and compassion.

 She heads up a great leadership team that meets with the staff every week to keep our high-functioning, busy unit informed with updates and communicates changes. She promotes dialogue and input from our team, encouraging openness, transparency, and collaboration. She sees every challenge as an opportunity for growth. She encourages professional development by motivating us to continue our education, become certified, and speak positively about our personal potential as healthcare professionals.

Many consider her a mentor and are grateful for her leadership. We have worked under many different leaders, and none have been more supportive of their staff than Maureen. The Surgical Access Unit runs at a fast and furious pace with many different surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff. SAU is the wheel that keeps MMC running, and Maureen leads this unit with grace and knowledge.

All at the same time, she is able to diffuse situations while standing with her staff. Maureen is a champion for quality, safe patient care, as well as consideration for her staff. When you work for Maureen, you feel seen and appreciated, which makes you want to work even harder! I believe Maureen is the gold standard in management and well deserving of this award!
