I was a patient at Chilton Medical Center last month and experienced exceptional care from a truly compassionate nurse. I came to the emergency department after several days of vomiting, which eventually turned into vomiting blood. The hospital was extremely busy and I was placed in the Endoscopy Unit, which was being used as an overflow area.

During my stay, my condition worsened due to internal bleeding, and I required an emergency endoscopy. I was told that my blood pressure was too low to safely undergo the procedure under anesthesia, as it is normally done. This was a scary experience, and although I was in and out of awareness, I clearly remember how incredible all of the nurses were, especially Maura, during this critical time.

Despite the urgency and high-stress situation, she remained calm, compassionate, and incredibly supportive during the procedure. She held my hand, rubbed my back, and spoke soothingly to me throughout the procedure. Her presence brought me comfort during one of the scariest moments of my life.

Knowing that I was in such caring and capable hands made all the difference. This nurse exemplifies what it means to provide extraordinary, patient-centered care. Her kindness, reassurance, and skill turned a terrifying experience into one that I could face. She is truly an amazing nurse.
