Matt cared for my husband, who was admitted to 8 Tower. Matt was professional, kind, and explained everything that would happen. He was thorough and came into the room frequently to check on my husband and me. He didn’t do anything to my husband until he explained what he was doing and made sure my husband was ok. His care for my husband before and after his procedure was extraordinary.

What was unexpected was that he also supported and was so kind and compassionate to me, the wife. I was here alone, and it was an exhausting and very scary day for me. Matt asked how I was genuinely. He listened to me, got me something to eat, and validated how scary this was for me. I felt cared for, and since I could truly express my fears and anxiety to him, I could then be emotionally available to care for my husband.

When my husband returned from his procedure, Matt immediately called dietary so he could eat. It was 6:30 pm, and he hadn’t eaten in 24 hours, and attentively cared for my husband while explaining everything that he was doing. He read us the discharge instructions and made sure that both my husband and I understood what to expect and what to watch for. We both felt very safe and in competent, professional, and kind hands. As I told Matt, he made a difference today in our lives. We will, without hesitation, return to Danbury Hospital for all of our needs.
