Matt has been the overnight nurse caring for my sister-in-law in the Adult Intensive Care unit for the last few days. He is the charge nurse. He is so thorough and also compassionate. He has an amazing bedside manner. But more importantly, he is very knowledgeable and shows great wisdom in his work. He responds quickly and often takes care of a situation before we even know there is one. As an example, my sister-in-law went into Afib, and her blood pressure dropped drastically while her heart rate went up drastically. He quickly grabbed the machine, shocked her heart, and restored her heart to rhythm. He didn’t stop there. Within seconds, he was on the phone with the Doctor and worked out a plan. Within five minutes, he was adjusting her treatment and giving her the medication needed to calm her heart rate. He knew exactly what to do immediately, which included a change in the machine (CRRT) usage, an additional medication, and a reduction in other medications. The entire time he was making changes, he explained step by step what he was doing so we could understand and feel less worried. It was so comforting. In many of my hospital experiences, Matt is by far the best Nurse we’ve ever had. He may not know it, but he is truly doing the Lord’s work. We are so thankful for Matt and what he does.
