Mason took care of my dad in the CTICU, and we were lucky enough to have him for the two full days he was there. My dad is a shy person and not one to ask for help, so we were nervous about how he would do when we weren't there. I'm unsure what Mason did, but my dad instantly felt comfortable with him. We felt heard, he answered our questions thoughtfully, and he never made us feel like we were a bother. Mason was the one who first got my dad to eat after surgery. He always had suggestions for how uncomfortable my dad was. Even the small suggestions, like an ice pack or heat pack, made us feel like he really did care about my dad’s comfort. If it were possible to pick your nurse, if I ever have another family member in this situation, I would request Mason every time.
