I had to bring my 5-year-old to the emergency room tonight after a visit to WellNow, where they were unable to completely diagnose. We walked in, and the registration desk woman immediately gave her a teddy bear to help with the anxiety of a very busy waiting room. We did have to wait a bit, but the teddy bear helped so much!

After a bit, Maryanne called us into the triage area, where we were also quickly met by the treating PA. Maryanne was so great with my daughter. She quickly noticed her Taylor Swift hoodie and started talking to her about it.

As with any 5-year-old, she wasn’t handling the thought of medicine very well, but Maryanne got her a grape popsicle first and told her that grape is Taylor's favorite flavor, which helped! The whole time we were with her, she was amazing with my daughter. The ED was very busy, and she made us feel like we were her only patient, even though we knew we weren’t.
