I believe this nurse deserves special recognition for the time and patience she showed me during my visit. As a victim of domestic violence with a long history of medical conditions stemming from my experience, I have a lot of anxiety around life-threatening complications while recovering from my injuries. Mary took the time to listen to my fears and PTSD triggers and made my stay and testing here as easy as possible. She was extremely kind and caring, and went above and beyond to not only comfort me but also listen to my history, which positively affected my treatment here. She ensured that, having been here for over 30 years, she had surely shown the same kindness and empathy to many of her patients. She took extra time and care with me by dimming the lights for my migraine, and made sure I was always aware of where my support system was waiting for me on the other side of surgery. As an individual with autism as well, it is really hard sometimes for us to navigate the world and its sensory stimuli without complications. Mary could tell immediately that I needed it and made every extra effort to accommodate me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I believe she is a shining example of what a great nurse should strive to be, and I hope you will consider her for this award!
