Mary came down to the ER to bring a pediatric Mental Health patient up to the unit. The patient had started to escalate right before going upstairs, the ER physician had just ordered PRN medications, and Mary was able to de-escalate the patient and bring him upstairs without any chemical intervention.

The patient responded so well to her.  Mary's collaboration and experience with this situation helped facilitate a safe, effective transport for the patient. The next day, we had another pediatric patient in the ER awaiting admission to the pediatric Mental Health Unit, and Mary recognised that the consent for admission had been incorrect. Mary brought this to CID's attention, so they were able to obtain correct documentation and consent.

Mary's knowledge and expertise are a huge asset and proven in both of these situations.
