January 2026 Honoree
Mary Aldos, BSN, RN
I nominate Nurse Mary Aldos for the DAISY Award because the care she provided went far beyond what I expected. During one of the most physically painful and emotionally overwhelming moments of my life, Mary was a steady source of comfort, strength, and compassion. From the moment Mary walked into my room, her presence brought immediate calm. She didn't rush; she didn't dismiss my concerns, and she never made me feel like I was too much. Instead, she truly listened to my pain, fears, and needs, and responded with empathy and patience. When I felt vulnerable, exhausted, and discouraged, Mary treated me with dignity and genuine kindness. What made Mary exceptional was not just her clinical skill, but her heart. She advocated for me when my pain was not controlled, checked on me consistently, and made sure I felt safe and supported every step of the way. She explained things clearly, reassured me when I felt anxious, and showed me compassion when I needed it most. Her words, tone, and even her silence when I needed reassurance spoke volumes. Mary didn't just care about my condition; she cared about me as a person. She recognized how difficult the situation was emotionally and never minimized it. Small gestures, thoughtful check-ins, and her unwavering kindness made an enormous difference in my healing and in my experience as a patient. Because of Mary, I felt seen, heard, and respected when I needed it most. Nurse Mary Aldos embodies everything the DAISY Award stands for: extraordinary compassion, dedication, and human connection. Her care left a lasting impact on me, and I will never forget the comfort she provided when I needed it most. I am deeply grateful for her and feel honored to nominate her for this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for recognizing nurses like Mary, whose compassion truly changes lives.
Thank you, Mary, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
