When I came from my catheterization surgery Marty was called into my room to help get my vitals under control. My pulse was extremely low, blood pressure low, my color was very pale, very cold, skin (fingertips purple). Marty is very knowledgeable and caring and was there for me the whole time.

Recently, Marty was in charge (lead for the day). He had a full load and was training a new nurse. They had a patent who was to have some kind of procedure in Endo. It was supposed to happen around 2:30-3:00 pm. It didn't happen. The patient's family came to the desk to complain. Her mom was scared and no one would tell them what was going on. After many phone calls, it was discovered that the procedure was canceled, and no one informed the nurse or the patient. During all of the calls, the supervisor was insistent that patients be moved off the floor. It was a very intense situation once the daughter found out about the cancellation. She was more than upset and made sure Marty knew it. More phone calls were made to the department and the Dr. during all of this. I am not sure how Marty held it together, but he did and kept on. I left for the day.
The next day the daughter came up to me and talked about the situation to me. She proceeded to tell me that Marty handled the situation and was phenomenal (her words, not mine). It was then that I found out that a doctor and a team came in to do the procedure. I was impressed by that. I am sure the patient was taken care of because of Marty.
If I ever have to be a patient, I would be thrilled to have a nurse who went above and beyond for me. He helped make a bad experience for the patient and her family a better one. I can't begin to tell you how Marty held it together in a situation that never should have happened. He truly stood up for his patient. That's just the kind of nurse he is and I am lucky I get to work with him!
