September 2026 Honoree
Martha Maguire, RN
Having a parent with Dementia isn't an easy thing when it comes to their medical care. You worry every moment when you’re not by their side to advocate for them.
The moment my mother was put on floor 5D, Martha was there by our side, making sure my mom was taken care of properly. I knew I could go to the bathroom or go get something to eat without worrying. There will never be enough words to explain how much it meant to our family to have Martha as our mom’s nurse.
She took time, made sure not only was our mom taken care of, but so were we. She advocated for us every moment. She checked in even on her day off. She definitely went above and beyond for us. I felt like family there, not just a number.
My mom unfortunately passed away, but she passed away with caring people like Martha taking care of her. Every ask I had, Martha took care of it in a very timely manner. Having nurses like Martha makes a very tough and painful time in a family’s life a little easier. She gave us the support and reassurance we needed.
She takes pride in her job. She goes the extra mile, is a team worker, and never acts like she is above anyone else. She was with the CNAs, getting her hands dirty and teaching them how to be the best they can be at their job. Hearing please and thank you from her at every moment.
She definitely deserves more than this award in so many ways. The least our family could do is nominate her. Please, our family asks that you grant this award to Martha; nurses like her definitely need to know how much they are needed and appreciated.
Thank you, Martha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
