I need to recognize that the most instrumental in my recovery was my night nurse. I can tell you in full honesty that I have never been able to remember a nurse's name until I met Marleen. She was simply amazing, and her personality reminded me of the sun coming out after a cloudy day. She is also brilliant and exceptional in her nursing career.

About three days into recovery, my blood pressure was very low, and I started getting a noticeable fever. Marleen jumped into action and had me on a strict regimen with my Incentive Spirometer. She was also the only one who was able to get my medication on a perfect rotation. 

While it was still an agonizing recovery, she made sure I had everything I needed, the minute I was due for it. I didn't even have time to call for her- she was always right there like clockwork. The pain medication made me extremely nauseated, and she had not one, but two medications on standby for that as well. It was the first time I didn't want to leave the hospital! With her help, I received the care and education that I needed to be discharged on Friday and to start my recovery at home. I am forever grateful for her, and I view her not only as a one-in-a-million nurse but as a new friend that I will cherish forever. Please, express my immense gratitude to her.
