September 2026 Honoree
Markeeya Lee, RN
I have worked with Markeeya for 10 years now; she has always gone above and beyond for her patients. There have been many times when a patient has been admitted with no clothes or belongings, and she has purchased them clothing. She also keeps fresh packs of undies in her office.
Any time of day or night, Markeeya will answer her phone to answer a question about her patients. I have seen her be the first one in when a patient is aggressive and de-escalate the entire situation.
She will always sit and listen to anything the patients have to say to her. Any worries, concerns, or complaints, she sits and listens no matter how busy she is. She is someone who truly cares about her patients.
I have seen this woman buy a patient food when they were being discharged because we were out of bagged lunches for their commute home. When the floor is busy, she will help us all by taking out the trash, cleaning, and asking us if we need assistance.
Her vehicle is in the parking lot when I get to work, and when I leave, it is still in the parking lot. As a nurse manager, she keeps us all grounded. Working in psych is so difficult at times. Markeeya will remind us of where we are and what a difference we are making.
If there's anyone I can count on in this place as a nurse, a manager, a friend, that would be Markeeya Lee.
Thank you, Markeeya, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
