To be able to trust someone with your own health is a huge deal, and Mariamma quickly became my trusted guide.
I am 31 years old and I was on the Lung floor at Temple University Hospital for one week. I was diagnosed with a bad bout of pneumonia, which had quickly turned to Sepsis. As someone with a history of anxiety (especially health-related), I was terrified. I had many wonderful nurses during my stay, but the patience, kindness, and honesty of Mariamma was exactly what I needed. Halfway through my stay, I was informed I would need a PICC Line and would need to be administered at home medication for about 28 days. The situation was very overwhelming, and I quickly became a mess. Mariamma gave me her kind words, her hand to hold, and advocated for me. She always made sure I was comfortable and did her best to give me all the information she could. I cannot express how much her care meant to me. Although my stay was only a week, I always asked Mariamma when she would be in, and if she was assigned to my room (luckily, she was most of the time!) To be able to trust someone with your own health is a huge deal, and Mariamma quickly became my trusted guide. I wish she could have come to my house every day to administer my syringe IV!! Although I was so happy to be discharged and go home within a week, it was difficult to say goodbye to my nurses. These are a wonderful group of people who work so incredibly hard to take care of their patients, and as silly as it sounds, my heart holds a special spot for them. They took care of me in my greatest time of need, and because of their care, I am healthy today. I will never be able to thank Mariamma enough for all the time and love & care she spent on taking care of me. THANK YOU!
