On a daily basis, Lupita (Maria) comes to work with a positive attitude, and it spreads to those she works with and cares for. She is a leader and a role model for our unit. She is prompt with everything she does and will go out of her way to find an answer or solution. The staff she works with trusts her knowledge and skills, and her patients value the rapport she creates with them.
She tackles her RN duties with grace and patience, and without hesitation will step in as a PNA and LVN. When we are short on PNA's, you can often see her sitting on the subs or in the dayroom. When we are short LVNs, you will see her pulling and passing medications, as if she does it every day. No assignment is too menial or big. She will gladly accept and always approach things to the best of her ability. She is confident to speak up when she is not sure about something and speak out when necessary.
On October 10th, the unit had two LVN call-ins; she was notified and quickly came into work early and jumped into the role that was needed of her. Lupita played a big part in ensuring compliance for staff influenza vaccines on the EFTP program during this season. She was assertive in contacting staff and giving influenza vaccines. She was prompt with checking the delinquent list and following up with those staff. Specifically, during the dates of October 6th- 23rd, she was asked to change her schedule, learn a few new duties, and assist in a leadership role while her Nurse Manager and Clinical Coordinator were out. She accepted this assignment to ensure the continuity of care and that duties were not missed in her supervisor's absence.
She possesses so many great qualities that make her a great asset to our hospital and to our patient population. It is difficult to capture in words how much of an impact she has made on the EFTP program and how much we value her and all her hard work. She remains humble, but she is very deserving of such recognition and appreciation.
