When I arrived, daddy and mommy were scared. They wanted to understand all possibilities. Marcie, from the first night, made them feel safe, taught them everything they needed to know, and put their minds at rest. Marcie had a calming presence that made me feel safe too. She always came into the room and went beyond the standard to help me grow and get better. She would clean everything, get new bedding, and make sure everything was stocked. She would say to daddy, "the best way to learn is to watch and then try." He did and learned so much. He always says how thankful he is to have learned so much from her. She would be honest with mommy and daddy. She embodies what it means to be a true caregiver. When we knew that Marcie was going to be our night nurse, mommy and daddy would be so relieved. They were able to trust her fully and they could both sleep peacefully when she was here. I never understood why they wouldn't sleep, keeping one eye on me at all times. Marcie signed mommy and daddy up for classes, made them feel like they were doing a good job, and never deviated from what was right. One night I was really hurting, and there was a possible issue with my heart. No one told mommy and daddy, but Marcie did. She was not afraid to say "I don't know" if she didn't know the answer. That meant so much to me and my parents. Without Marcie, I know my parents wouldn't have been able to be as strong for me. She is what makes this place amazing. She always cared for my family, showed effort, and never stopped making mommy and daddy feel safe and hopeful. Thank you for creating a place that I could grow.
