I would like to nominate the triage nurse Marci for a DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional care she provided to my son during a recent emergency department visit. My 15-year-old son was experiencing severe abdominal pain and was ultimately diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. As a parent, seeing your child in pain and facing an unexpected hospitalization is frightening and overwhelming. From the moment we arrived, she helped make a difficult situation feel more manageable. She quickly brought us back for evaluation and ensured my son was assessed promptly. Throughout our time waiting for a room, she checked on us frequently, monitored his condition, and kept us informed every step of the way. Her updates on test results and next steps helped ease our anxiety and made us feel like we were not facing the uncertainty alone. What stood out most was her attentiveness and compassion. Even while managing the demands of a busy emergency department, she took the time to answer our questions, address our concerns, and make sure my son was as comfortable as possible. Her calm demeanor and reassuring presence provided comfort during a very stressful experience. The compassion, professionalism, and genuine kindness she demonstrated had a lasting impact on our family. During one of the most stressful moments we have faced as parents, she provided not only excellent nursing care but also comfort, understanding, and reassurance. We are incredibly grateful for the care she gave our son and believe she is truly deserving of recognition through the DAISY Award.
