My mother was brought down to the ICU in the evening due to coding for respiratory arrest. The first full night she was there, we met Manny, who would be her nurse, as he could handle the complex machine she needed to keep her alive. Despite being on his 6th straight shift, Manny provided an immediate sense of relief and comfort to us as a family. We knew that she was in good hands. Manny's warm demeanor and calming personality helped alleviate the tension and stress of this situation. He would always check on us and provide us with answers to our questions, no matter how repetitive or confusing they may be. If he didn't have an answer, he wouldn't stop until he found one for us.

Once he returned to his regular day shift, we specifically requested him, and he continued to support us as he took amazing care of my mom. The attention he paid to her, whether it was cleaning her after an accident or helping with her ventilation and dialysis, was always noticed. It is expected for a nurse to take care of their patients, but Manny goes above and beyond in this category. He truly cares for each of his patients and creates an immediate bond with their families that will never be forgotten, even when the outcome is not what we hope for.
