Manuel showed up, not just as a healthcare worker, but as a deeply compassionate human being. His act of kindness brought dignity and comfort to someone who has known far too little of either.
Manuel demonstrates extraordinary compassion, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to our patients.
This morning, Manuel went above and beyond for one of our most vulnerable patients. Without seeking recognition, Manuel personally purchased and donated a backpack, clothing, and essential personal care items from Target to support his basic needs. He even wished to remain anonymous, a true reflection of his humility and generous spirit.
This patient's story is deeply heartbreaking. He came to us from Haven. He is blind, homeless, and has a double below-the-knee amputation due to complications from poorly managed diabetes. Throughout his life, he has endured unimaginable trauma—he was shot in the leg while driving, and while serving as an EMT during Hurricane Katrina, a tree fell on him. Amidst these tragedies, his mother passed away while he was hospitalized. Now, Chris is courageously seeking help to overcome alcoholism and rebuild his life.
In the face of all this, Manuel showed up, not just as a healthcare worker, but as a deeply compassionate human being. His act of kindness brought dignity and comfort to someone who has known far too little of either.
Manuel consistently exemplifies what it means to deliver holistic, heartfelt care. I truly appreciate when we have continuity of care together, because I know Manuel will always advocate for our patients with compassion and integrity.
Manuel is a quiet hero among us, making an incredible impact.
