Thank you, Manal, for everything you did for my family and me.
I am writing to nominate Nurse Manal for the DAISY Award, as she truly made an unforgettable and profound impact on my life during my induction and delivery. From the very first moment I met her, I knew I was in the hands of someone extraordinary, and I am incredibly grateful to have had her by my side during such a pivotal time.
I was induced due to severe preeclampsia at 37 weeks, and I was terrified for my baby, for myself, and for everything that could happen. But from the moment I arrived, Manal was there, doing everything she could to ensure that I felt supported and cared for. My labor progressed very quickly, and despite the intensity of everything happening around me, Manal was always one step ahead, anticipating my needs before I even knew them myself. She was there through every twist and turn, holding my hand, offering comforting words, and encouraging me through the pain, the epidural, and the delivery.
What struck me most was how she took the time to not only care for me medically but also emotionally. She was an incredible support not only to me but also to my partner, guiding him so that he could help me through the process. When the moment of delivery came, I felt at ease because Manal was right there, coaching me with calm and confidence. I truly believe that without her and my other nurse, I would not have had such a positive birth experience.
After the delivery, my heart was full with the excitement of finally seeing my 6-year-old son meet his baby brother, something he had been eagerly anticipating for almost 9 months. I was still recovering and a little out of it, but Manal, seeing how important this moment was, took the initiative to ask if she could capture the first meeting between my sons in a photo. She helped preserve that beautiful, unforgettable moment of our family coming together, something I’ll cherish forever.
Just days after, I developed a serious condition called RCVS, and my situation became quite scary. Manal’s care and compassion never wavered. When Rapid Response and emergency services were called, she was right there at my side, offering comfort and reassurance during one of the most frightening moments of my life. Knowing she was there, genuinely concerned for my well-being, gave me a sense of calm during a time of chaos.
Even now, six months later, I still think of Manal often and with such gratitude. I hope she knows just how much kindness and expertise meant to me, not just as a patient, but as a person. She is someone who truly excels in her field, not only because of her medical skills but because of her deep compassion and understanding. I hope everyone has the chance to experience the kind of care she provides-caring, professional, and wholeheartedly invested in making a difference in people's lives.
Thank you, Manal, for everything you did for my family and me. You are deeply appreciated, and I am so lucky to have had you as my nurse.
