Mallory happened to be on-site for training, and her peers shared that her patient had been asking about her and wanted to see her. Mallory took the time to come to his bedside. She held his hand and supported him through his final minutes. Mallory asked if she could do anything for him, and he replied, "a kiss on the cheek, and I will see you on the other side." Not long after, the patient took his final breath. This served as a reminder to Mallory of why she chose to be a nurse. She listened to the patient and his family. Mallory ensured that if she had a request, she could make it happen. This is a testament to the impact nurses have on their patients. The patient had a room full of family and still asked about the nurse he had met for the first time the day before.
