Mallory is an extraordinary instructor. She teaches the pediatric course in the nursing program which is both challenging (it's a 5-week course), with passion and enthusiasm. She has a very unique teaching-learning strategies which engage even the shyest students in active learning. She has a commitment to excellence in both her course and profession as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pediatric Oncology that shines through in her teaching and professional role. She ensures that every student enrolled in the nursing program at MSU Denver is very well prepared in the role of a nurse generalist to practice pediatrics, even if it's not a student's chosen career path upon graduation, because children and family health are everywhere.

I had the pleasure of working with Mallory when I was obtaining my MSN in Nursing Education. I worked with her during the pediatric semester, where she taught lecture. Mallory's teaching style is unlike anything I've ever seen before. She is so creative in creating games and engaging the students. Also, she would play a quick funny clip before exams because she knows research says that helps ease nerves and anxiety. She had a really special way of communicating with her students and really helping them feel like they could excel. I so appreciated the opportunity to work with Mallory, and I can't even put into words how much she deserves this award!
