Mallory Eakin, BSN, RN, CPN
My son, J, was admitted on Wednesday to the 6 South Pediatric floor for observation due to seizures. On Friday morning, we had the pleasure of meeting Mallory Eakin, and she was truly exceptional. From the moment she came into the room, she was kind, compassionate, patient, and incredibly thorough. She took the time to explain every medication, procedure, and plan of care in a way that made me feel informed and included.
Unfortunately, because of J's complex medical condition, we have spent a lot of time in hospitals over the years. That is why it is always such a pleasure to meet nurses like Mallory. She not only provided excellent medical care but also made our hospital experience feel more comforting and less overwhelming. What touched me most was the way she included J in his care. Even though he has significant disabilities and cannot communicate like other children, she always spoke directly to him, smiled at him, and interacted with him as any child deserves. She made him feel seen, valued, and special. As a mother, that meant more to me than words can express.
As the mother of a medically complex child, consistency and patient safety mean everything to me. Mallory consistently followed procedures, paid close attention to every detail, and made sure J received safe, high-quality care. She never made me feel like my questions were a burden and always treated our family with kindness, respect, and genuine compassion. Her professionalism, excellent communication, and commitment to doing things the right way gave me tremendous peace of mind during a very stressful hospitalization.
Mallory truly embodies AdventHealth's values of compassionate, family-centered care, keeping patients safe, and following through with excellence. It was a pleasure to meet her, and I hope she receives the recognition she so richly deserves. Nurses like Mallory make an unforgettable difference in the lives of families like ours.
